Connecting Past to Future
We believe genealogy data should be free, accessible, and interoperable. Our tools bridge the gap between legacy formats and modern applications.
Why GED ↔ JSON?
GEDCOM (Genealogical Data Communication) has been the industry standard since 1984. While it served us well, the format was designed for an era of floppy disks and limited computing power.
JSON is the language of modern software. APIs, databases, web applications, and AI systems all speak JSON fluently. By converting between these formats, we unlock:
- AI-powered family story generation
- Custom genealogy applications
- Web-based family tree viewers
- Collaborative research tools
We're working toward a future where the GEDCOM standard evolves—or where better alternatives emerge. Until then, ged2json bridges the gap.
Your Data is Sacred
Auto-Delete in 5 Minutes
Your files are automatically and permanently deleted within 5 minutes of upload. No exceptions. No backups. No traces.
Zero Long-term Storage
We don't store your genealogy data. Period. No databases, no cloud storage, no analytics that include your family information.
Server-side Processing
Conversion happens on our secure servers in temporary memory. Rate-limited to 50 conversions per hour per IP.
50MB Size Limit
We accept files up to 50MB to ensure quick processing and prevent abuse. Most family trees fit well under this limit.
What's Coming
We're building more than a converter. Our vision includes:
- →AI Family Narratives — Transform your data into compelling family stories
- →DNA Integration — Merge genetic data with genealogical records
- →Historical Context — See what world events your ancestors lived through
- →Open-Source Standard — Contributing to genealogy data interoperability
